Things To Do

Both relaxation and adventure come naturally at Casa Duna, because the property grants easy access to Baja’s best features.

Kitesurder

Kitesurfing

La Ventana is considered one of the best places on Earth to kite. Its unique geography means that it gets consistent 15 to 25 knot winds during peak season (November - March). The consistency makes it perfect for both beginners and experts alike. Bring your own gear, or rent the latest kit from any number of local spots. There are also a number of world-class schools for all skill levels. For those who don’t kite, most morning are incredibly calm, even during peak season - typically with a mirror smooth sea for SUPing.

Snorkeling with Sea Lions

Scuba + Snorkel

Baja is home to some of the best scuba diving and snorkeling on the planet. Famed explorer Jacques Cousteau even led a number of expeditions in the area. Whether you choose to snorkel from the beach in front of Casa Duna, or go diving with one of the local outfits in town, you’re bound to make memories that will last a life time.

Todos Santos

Exploration

While La Ventana may seem remote on a map, you’re only 45 minutes away from La Paz, the capital city of Baja California Sur, and 2 hours away from the world-class Los Cabos. If you’d like to venture outside of town, some of our favorite day trips are to the towns of Todos Santos on the Pacific Coast, and the nearby mining village of El Triunfo. In both places you’ll find small shops, restaurants, and galleries.

Fishing

Settled as a fishing village, La Ventana is home to a number of local guides who are happy to charter a trip for a fraction of the price you would find in Los Cabos. Due to nearby Isla Cerralvo, most sea-life naturally migrate into La Ventana Bay. There are abundant yellowtail, golden grouper, marlin, sailfish, swordfish, broadbill, and more. In addition, you can often spot whales, whale sharks, sea lions, and dolphins.

Trail Biking

Adventure in La Ventana is not just limited to the ocean. There are many miles of well-kept single track bike trails that wind through the seemingly endless forests of huge seguaro-like cardon cacti. More advanced trails can bring you up into the mountains, while easier trails follow the arroyos down to remote beaches. Bikes for all skill levels are available for rent in town.

Private Yoga at Casa Duna

Yoga

While yoga can be practiced anywhere, the incredible beauty of La Ventana lends itself to a deeper natural connection with nature and the Self. Guests are invited to explore the property and area to find the best places to disconnect. Our favorites are on the roof observatory, inside the beach-front palapa, in the gardens amongst the cacti, or - of course - on the beach itself. Our caretaker is happy to organize a local instructor if desired, and there are a number of yoga studios in town for communal practice.
